A divorced Shaafi' woman has no male relative to be her Wali for marriage. What should she do regarding her contemplated Nikah?
Answer
According to the Shaafi' Math-hab, a woman cannot contract her own Nikah. A male Wali is an imperative requisite for the validity of the Nikah. If a woman has no close male relative Wali to arrange her marriage, then she may appoint any other man to be her Wali to contract her Nikah.
