Question
I am about to get married. How will the new Muslim marriages law affect me. What should I do?
Answer
The MMB (i.e. the new kufr so-called 'Muslim' marriages bill) is not law. It has not yet been made law. Insha'Allah, they will fail. It will not become law. And, even if it becomes law, it will apply to only those who opt for the kufr. Those Muslims who do not want it, cannot be compelled to submit to it. The government will not impose the kufr law on Muslims who refuse to be governed by it. There is no need to register your Nikah. However, if you, for some reason will want to have the Nikah registered, then you and your husband have to enter into an ante nuptial contract which excludes the accrual clause. You have to do this via an attorney. Any other system of registration will be haraam.
