Question
My wife left home of her own freewill without my consent. I have given her one Talaaq Baa-in. She is demanding iddat maintenance. What is the Shariah's law?
Answer
During the iddat, the ex-wife is required to stay in the marital home. If she refuses to stay in the marital home and makes her own arrangements, then she is not entitled to maintenance. Only if she stays in the marital home or elsewhere with the consent of her ex-husband, will maintenance be Waajib for her.
