Question
A man has distributed the jewellery of his deceased wife to his grandchildren. Does he have such a right? She has sons and daughters.
Answer
The husband has no right of distributing his deceased wife's jewellery or any of her assets as he wishes. Her grand children are not heirs in view of the fact that she is survived by sons. Her assets have to be compulsorily distributed to her heirs in the proportions ordained by the Shariah.
