The custom among my relatives when making Aqeeqah is to ensure that bones of the slaughtered animal are not broken, and that they are buried.

Question

The custom among my relatives when making Aqeeqah is to ensure that bones of the slaughtered animal are not broken, and that they are buried. The mother of the newborn is not allowed to partake of the Aqeeqah meat. Is this custom correct?

Answer

The practices of your relatives regarding the Aqeeqah as described by you are bid'ah and not permissible. The Aqeeqah animal/meat is exactly the same as Qur'baani meat.
