I performed Taraweeh at Rainbow Musjid in Lenasia. After Taraweeh before Witr Salaat, Molana Yaseen Cajee decided to give a talk. I see this practice becoming common in Lenasia. I walked out and read my Witr individually at the back. Did I do the right thing? By having the talk after the Taraweeh Salaat the molana is compelling the musallees to sit for his talk.
Answer
The Maulana has introduced an evil bid'ah. The talk after Taraaweeh and before Witr displaces the Masnoon method. Since the Sunnah was violated with this bid'ah, you acted correctly.
