Question

In some religious communities in West Africa, a trend is developing that when a renowned alim or shaikh passes away, his wives are not expected to marry again. Sometimes the shaikh himself while alive creates this impression or his followers influence others against the wives marrying again. And in all this, they intend to somehow relate it to the Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) whose wives did not marry after him since it was an order of Allah Ta'ala. Is there any reference to this practise of wives of deceased ulama and mashaikh not marrying in the lives of the Sahaabah, Tabi'een and their followers? Were the wives of deceased ulama and mashaikh free to re-marry again? Please comment.

Answer

This idea is absolutely corrupt and haraam. Shaitaan has urinated into the brains of these satanic shaikhs. The prohibition is strictly confined to the Holy Wives of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam). It does not apply to the Sahaabah nor to anyone else.
