Question
There is a senior Khalifa of shaykh of the khanqah who goes for hajj every year. This year his hajj cost close to R800 000 only for few days last flight out. There is a rich guy who pays for his hajj almost every year and all his umrahs during the year around, 6 umrahs a year. He motivates others also to come with him for umrah and hajj. Is this the way of our akaabir or is this the way of siratal mustaqeem?
Answer
The khalifah sahib is astray. Shaitaan and the nafs have trapped him into a wasteful practice, and that too at a time when the entire Ummah is ablaze with the misery of extreme poverty, starvation, jahaalat, humiliation and sinking in the quagmire of sin and transgression. While the Ummah is burning universally, this jaahil has the stamina for squandering so much funds in acts which are not even 'nafl' for him.
He is plodding the path of dhalaal. His way is never the Siraatul Mustaqeem. The rich guy is also an agent of Iblees. His earnings most probably are haraam, hence he derives pleasure wasting his money in haraam avenues. That is why he does not gain the taufeeq to divert the huge amounts to the suffering Muslims. But he derives pleasure from shaitaani Israaf (squandering) which gives him pleasure, and this is the sign of haraam earnings.
The khalifah is manipulating the rich guy with his superficial deeni front.
