Question
A Maulana says that a woman may visit people in the city without a mahram male. As long as the distance is not more than the safar distance (77 km) she can go about without a mahram. Is this right?
Answer
The Maulana Sahib is deficient in Aql (intelligence) or he lacks Aql, hence he spoke drivel. In this age of fitnah and crime it is not permissible for a woman to go alone even one kilometre from her home or even just down the street.
