The estate of my deceased father has not been wound up for several years. What is the position of Zakaat on the Zakaat assets in the estate?
Answer
Zakaat is not payable for the period that the estate has not been wound up. However, the executor is committing a major sin for delaying the winding up of the estate. He is guilty of khiyaanat (abuse of amaanat).
