The value of my gold jewellery is R60,000. But the value of the actual gold in the jewellery is R40,000. On what value do I have to pay Zakaat? The additional value is for the design of the jewellery.
Answer
Zakaat is paid on the value of the gold only, not on the value of the jewellery. Zakaat is not paid for ‗the design of the jewellery'.
