I am about to get married. While I want a very simple Nikah and that is also the desire of the boy, my parents insist on having a big affair in a hall. What should I do?
Answer
Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said that it is not permissible to obey anyone in anything which is sinful. Obedience to Allah Ta‟ala is incumbent. Therefore, ignore the haraam demands of your parents and do not agree to what they say regardless of their annoyance.
