If I am survived by my wife, one daughter and 3 sisters, how will my estate be distributed in terms of the Shariah?
Answer
The wife‟s share is one eighth (12.5%). The daughter‟s share is half (50%), and the balance is for the three sisters. The estate has to be divided into 24 shares and distributed as follows: Wife 3, Daughter 12 and each sister 3.
