Question
I have deposited an amount of money (the purchase price of a property) in the trust account of the lawyer. This amount will be paid to the seller on registration of the property in my name. If my Zakaat year ends before the money has been paid to the seller, do I have to pay Zakaat on it?
Answer
The purchaser has to pay Zakaat on the amount as long as it has not been paid to the seller.
