A man is survived by a wife, a daughter, a sister and an uncle (father‟s brother).

Question

A man is survived by a wife, a daughter, a sister and an uncle (father‟s brother). How should his estate be distributed?

Answer

The wife‟s share is one eighth; the daughter‟s share is one half, and the balance is for the sister. The uncle does not inherit in this case. The estate should be divided into 24 shares - 3 shares for the wife; 12 for the daughter and 9 for the sister.
