When entering the grave to bury the mayyit, is it necessary to remove one‟s shoes?

Yes, it is necessary. It is not permissible to enter the grave with shoes on. In fact, according to the Hadith one should remove one‟s shoes even in the Qabrustaan. Once when Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) saw a person walking among the graves, he said: ―When you happen to be in such a place (a holy place), then remove your shoes.‖
