Hajj and Umrah The Majlis Vol 26 No 12, p.10

The Saudi government has made insurance mandatory for all those coming for Hajj and Umrah.

Question

The Saudi government has made insurance mandatory for all those coming for Hajj and Umrah. Is this permissible? What should a person going for Hajj do?

Answer

The kuffaar regime of Saudi Arabia is not concerned with the Shariah. There are no haraam and halaal issues for the murtaddeen. If Hajj is not Fardh, one should not go for Nafl Hajj and Umrah. It will not be permissible. If Hajj is Fardh, the haraam insurance will be in the same category as the haraam passport and visa photos.
