Is there a Sunnah basis for the 40 day I‟tikaaf organized in Azaadville?

The 40 day ‗I'tikaf' programme is a merrymaking bid'ah. Never participate in these new-fangled bid'ah programmes which are the effects of nafsaaniyat, but the organizers are deluded by self-deception to believe that they are engaging in an act of thawaab. There is absolutely no basis for this bid'ah in the Sunnah nor in the A'maal of the Salafus Saaliheen.
