I am a prisoner in a U.S. prison. I fasted on Monday 12th September believing it to be the 30th Zil-Qadh. Thereafter I learnt from the outside that Eid was on Monday. Is there any Kaffaarah I should fulfil?
Answer
There is no kaffaarah for having fasted on Monday 12th September. Since you were under the notion that it was the 30th Ramadhaan, you had acted correctly. If you had no reliable information from outside, then you had to fast on the day which you believed was the 30th Ramadhaan.
