Twenty two years ago I misappropriated R10,000 Zakaat entrusted to me for distribution. I am remorseful. I have made taubah. I do realize that I have to pay the Zakaat to deserving Muslims . How should I calculate the amount I am liable to pay?
Answer
You have to pay the amount of gold which R10,000 could procure 22 years ago. At that time (2001) the price of gold was approximately R24.10 per gram.
