How much can a husband demand in a khula' agreement?
Answer
He may ask for only the Mahr amount. More than this is not permissible. However, if the woman wants the marriage terminated and the husband is insistent on claiming much more than the mahr, then she may pay to gain her release. He will be sinful for exploitation and usurpation.
