What is the ruling regarding transporting the deceased from one city to another for burial?

Question

What is the ruling regarding transporting the deceased from one city to another for burial?

Answer

It is haraam to transport the body from one town to another or from one country to another. Even some Ulama perpetrate this haraam misdeed. They commit such evil with the bodies of their shaikhs. They are evil and rotten to the core. Notorious in this regard were the molvis who had denied Shaikh Raipuri (Rahmatullah alayh) a Shar'i burial. They encased him in a coffin and 'treasured' it in a cemented chamber. They perpetrated this villainy to further their nafsaani and worldly objectives. It is difficult to believe that such molvis are even Muslims.
