There's a prominent organization that collects Zakaat and paying someone's medical aid. But this person for the past 3 years is living a perfectly normal life like any normal person. For the past two years this person went to Durban for the December holidays and went deep sea fishing, bay fishing and fishing in the harbour from a boat. He is also vaping. Is it permissible for this prominent organisation that have branches nationally to pay his medical aid? The branch in question is in Fordsburg.
Answer
It is haraam to pay the medical aid insurance of this person who lives in luxury. Zakaat is the right of the Fuqara and Masaakeen. The organization is abusing the Amaanat of Zakaat.
