Question
People gather in the room where the mayyit is to recite Qur'aan and make dua. Is this a valid Sunnah practice?
Answer
The gathering and dua in the room where the deceased is are bid'ah. It is not permissible. Whoever wishes to make dua, may do so silently without making a fuss, and without participating in any kind of baseless custom.
