Do Shaafis also pay Fidyah for Witr Salaat? The relatives of the deceased want to pay the Fidyah for the Salaat of their deceased father. They are Shaafis.
Answer
According to the three Math-habs (Shaafi', Maaliki and Hambali) there is no fidyah payable for missed Salaat. A wasiyyat (bequest) for paying fidyah for Salaat is not valid. The sin remains on the person. The relatives should continue seeking forgiveness for the person. They should give Sadqah on behalf of their deceased father.
