The Darul Ifta in New York in a fatwa proclaims the validity, in fact incumbency, of global moon sighting for Ramadhaan and Eid. They also maintain that it is necessary or compulsory to follow the moon-sighting declarations of Saudi Arabia. Is their fatwa valid?
Answer
The Darul Ifta's fatwa is grossly erroneous and misleading. They have simply lumped together an array of names of senior Ulama and fabricated a misleading fatwa which we attribute to their bootlicking of the Saudi regime. The fatwa is designed to promote Saudi hegemony on the Ummah.
