Question
Is it permissible to keep monkeys as pets?
Answer
It is not permissible to keep monkeys as pets. In bygone times, Allah Ta'ala had punished a community by transforming them into apes which the Qur'aan mentions. When Allah Ta'ala has chosen the form of monkeys as an Athaab, it is highly improper and not permissible to keep monkeys as pets.
