Question
I have 20 grams of gold, and no other Zakaat item, neither cash nor silver. However, the value of my gold is more than the silver Nisaab amount. Is Zakaat fardh on me?
Answer
Since you have no other Zakaat assets besides the 20 gm gold, Zakaat is not incumbent on you even if the value of 20 gm gold is the equivalent of the silver Nisaab. Only if you have silver or cash, then you have to add the value of the gold to it and pay Zakaat.
