Question
A Shaafi woman married without the consent of her Wali. She was not represented by a male. With two witnesses the nikah was performed in her presence. Is the nikah valid?
Answer
The marriage according to the Shaafi' Math-hab is baatil. They are living in the state of adultery. Marriage without a male Wakeel is not valid for Shaafis.
