Question
What should be done when non-Muslim friends and neighbours come to the home of the mayyit whilst the body is still there? Should they be entertained in the house?
Answer
No. It is not permissible. Allah's Rahmat is required and hoped for, especially on this occasion. In Miraaqil Falaah it is mentioned that la'nat rains on non-Muslims, hence their presence is an athaab for the mayyit. They should be politely explained that due to religious constraints, the time for them visiting is inappropriate.
