In the U.K. we have a custom of displaying the face of the mayyit. The mayyit is placed with face open for the public to view. Is this a valid practice?
Answer
The face-displaying custom prevalent in the U.K. is bid'ah. It is not permissible. The placing of the mayyit in a public place with his face exposed for all and sundry to view is a practice of the kuffaar.
