8 June 2024 articles Page 1 of 2 HUKM (RULING) REGARDING VIEWING/WATCHING VIDEOS OF KHATAM-E-BUKHAARI SHAREEF OR OTHER DEENI GATHERINGS ON YOUTUBE (OR ANY OTHER MEDIA) __________________English Translation______________ بِسْمِ ّٰللاه ِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْم (Translation of an Urdu Fatwaa) Question Watching a video on YouTube that is recorded by a camera, even it be Khatam-e-Bukhaari Gathering, is it haraam or halaal..? Answer It should be noted that from the Shar’i point of view, it is naa- jaaiz (impermissible/prohibited) and haraam to make or view (watch) a picture or video of any living being. Therefore, it is naa-jaaiz (impermissible/prohibited) and haraam to watch videos on YouTube (which are recorded by camera) whether it be of Khatam-e-Bukhaari Shareef or other Deeni Gatherings. And there is a strong possibility of pictures and videos of Ghair-Mahram women flashing in this process, so it is absolutely necessary to avoid (refrain/abstain from) watching (viewing) such videos. There is a dire need that in such matters we - the Ummah, follow the valuable advice of our Beloved Nabee (Sallallaahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam) and adopt the most cautious view by abstaining from all those things which are doubtful, thus safeguarding ourselves from getting involved in haraam. And also that it won't be a hujjah (proof) against us on the day of Qiyaamah. اللَّهُمَّ آتِ نَفْسِي تَقْوَاهَا وَزَكِِّهَا أَنْتَ خَيْرُ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا أَنْتَ وَلِيُّهَا وَمَوَْلَهَا • ALLĀHUMMA ĀTI NAFSĪ TAQWĀHĀ WA ZAKKIHĀ ANTA KHAIRU MAN ZAKKĀHĀ ANTA WALIYYUHĀ WA MAULĀHĀ O ALLAAH!
