Casting more light to clarify the muddle created by Ganief Hendricks with his KNB silly tactics and peddling of falsehood against The Majlis, Mufti Emraan Vawda has clarified in a statement the extent of his involvement with and disengagement from Mr.Ganief Hendricks. The following are extracts of Mufti Emraan Vawda’s statements are:

Re: Clarification regarding Al Jama-ah Party supposed “Marriages Recognition Bill”
In the past week there have been a number of posts on social media related to Al Jama-ah party’s Bills which they are allegedly advancing before parliament. In the mix of all the to-and-fro discussion, my name has apparently been used and surreptitiously dragged into the fray. Hence, the need arose to clarify my position in respect of certain events. ……………………
Mr. Ganief Hendricks of the Al Jama-ah party had set up a meeting with Adv. Khan in relation to the bills which his party was promoting. The two bills can be accessed here and here. Adv. Khan requested me to attend the meeting, held on 22 October 2022. Out of respect for Adv. Khan I obliged.
At the said meeting, Mr. Hendricks invited me to give input as to the Shari’ah compliance of the two draft bills. My response was simple and clear. The aim of the two bills was merely to carry out the orders of the Constitutional Court. They have a purely secular purpose. They do not even purport to implement any rule of the Shari’ah. Therefore the question of Shari’ah compliance does not even arise. The outcome of the bills will, without doubt, not be in conformity with the Shari’ah. (Our emphasis –The Majlis)
…………. As far I was led to believe, the meeting was merely an informal discussion to elicit views and gather input.
To my utter dismay, on 24 October 2022 Al Jama-ah Party issued a press release in which they alleged that some Ulama were supportive of their endeavors. I am aware that Adv. Khan took strong objection to the press release, and he forwarded me a message, apparently from Mr. Hendricks, in which Mr. Hendricks undertook to withdraw the press release. (Our emphasis. Note the shenanigans of the politician –The Majlis)
It has also come to my attention that a member of the Al Jama-ah Party has this week claimed that I have endorsed their two bills, and that have I requested that in this regard my name not be made public. My response to these claims is:
- As is clear from the above, and from the voice-note made by Adv. Khan (1 January 2023), both he and I were emphatically clear that the two bills were not Shari’ah compliant. (Our emphasis-The Majlis)
- If for whatever reason it was not clear, then let it now be vividly recorded that I have never endorsed or approved any bill prepared by the Al Jama-ah party. (Our emphasis. Kufr can never ever be Shariah compliant –The Majlis)

It is indeed cunning and calumnious to insinuate that I have a two-faced stance, one for the public and another for Al Jama-ah party. (Our emphasis –The Majlis)
My views on the MMB are well known, and I have for many years vigorously campaigned against its enactment.

Having had this experience with the Al Jama-ah Party, I then took the trouble to enquire more about its members. It appears that this is a recurring modus operandi that they employ, where they engage with some member of society or an Aalim, and no sooner the meeting is concluded, they use the engagement as a promotional tool to give the impression that this person or Aalim is supportive of their party. Hence I would caution members of the public to be extremely weary if ever they interact with the members of this party, and that they do not take their claims of endorsement on face value. Do not touch this misguided party with even a barge pole. It is like immersing your hand in a puddle of najaasat. While it is not permissible to vote for any political party, it is doubly HARAAM to vote for Ganief Hendrick’s party. He utilizes the (Jeem) to create the false idea of him and his party being Islamic. There is absolutely not even a faint odour of Islam in him or his party. Jeem also stands for Jahannam.
Ganief Hendricks has no mandate from the Ulama nor from the Muslim community to speak on their behalf. He is bereft of Shar’i credentials. His knowledge of the Deen does not measure up to even the Istinja level.
REMEMBER THAT THE KUFR NIKAH BILL (KNB) OF GANIEF HENDRICKS IS AN INSIDUOUS KUFR INSTRUMENT WHICH DOES NOT HAVE THE REMOTEST RELATIONSHIP WITH ISLAM.
