To whom it may concern: The reason for this correspondence is to clarify certain matters that have spread via social media. Both Moulana Mazhar Mahmood and Moulana Yusuf Badat have attributed themselves and their scholarly qualifications to Hazrat Mufti Radha ul Hag (DB) and other esteemed teachers of Darul Uloom Zakariyya. Moulana Badat has further stated that Hazrat Mufti Saheb approves and endorses his mission. Moreover, Moulana Mazhar Mahmood has circulated certain masaa'il (verdicts) on social media that are in complete contrast to the methodology of our Akaabir (rahimahumullah). We have no affiliation with the masaa 'il that have been propagated by these individuals. The stand point of our Darul Iftaa on these matters have been published in our Fataawa and can be determined therefrom. Note too that neither have these individuals specialised in jurisprudence under our tutorship, nor have we given them ijaaza (permission) to issue fataawa. Hence, we distance ourselves from these uncommon and individually-opinionated masaa'il (against the opinion of the vast majority of reliable Ulema) that have been circulated by them. We also distance ourselves from anyone who sways from the methodology and path of the Akaabir, even if they may be graduates of our institute.
