According to Imaam Suyuti, maoulood is permissible.

Question

According to Imaam Suyuti, maoulood is permissible. Based on his view will it not be permissible to organize moulood? He was a great scholar.

Answer

Regardless of the greatness of a scholar, his views will be set aside if it is in conflict with the rulings of the Shariah as stated by the Aimmah Mujtahuideen and the Fuqaha in general. Every great Aalim slips and errs. Allaamah Sha'raani (rahmatullah alayh) said:

"He who holds on to the obscure (and rare) views of the Ulama makes his exit from Islam."

There are some very bizarre opinions of great Ulama, which are in conflict with the Shariah. The isolated view of a scholar does not abrogate anything of the Shariah. The Shariah is what the illustrious Aimmah-e-Mujtahideen and the Fuqaha explained. An isolated view which conflicts with the Shariah shall be relegate to the realm of oblivion.
