What are we supposed to believe regarding the Ambiya in their graves?

The belief of the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah is that the Ambiya are alive in their 'graves'. 'Grave' in this context refers to Aalam-e-Barzakh (the state of life after death). The Qur'aan explicitly states that the shuhada (martyrs) are alive, and that we should not say that they are 'dead' despite the fact that they had died an earthly death. The Ambiya are superior in rank to the Shuhada. The life of the Ambiya in the grave is of a higher kind than the life of the Shuhada. Everything is in the power of Allah Ta'ala. The Qur'aan says: "And, do not say for those slain in the path of Allah that they are dead. In fact they are alive and are being nourished by their Rabb."
