What status does the practice of sitting on chairs and eating from tables have in the Shariah? Is it permissible?
Answer
It is not permissible in normal circumstances to sit eating at a table for this is the style of the kuffaar, and the style of the Sunnah is the floor. Tashabbuh bil Kuffaar (emulating the kuffaar) is haraam.
