Is solar heating permissible? I have heard conflicting views.

Answer

While we cannot say that solar-heated water is not permissible, it is advisable to abstain. It is possible that the Hadith which prohibits the use of water heated by the sun could also apply to solar-heated water. It is also possible that the Hadith refers to only water exposed to sunlight. Allah knows best.
