Is a written document necessary for the validity of a Waqf property?

Question

Is a written document necessary for the validity of a Waqf property?

Answer

Waqf becomes valid with a verbal declaration. A written document is not necessary for the validity of Waqf. However, the verbal declaration should preferably be committed to writing to avoid future uncertainty and conflict.
