Question
After having made a statement of kufr, how does one renew Imaan? Is it necessary to have witnesses?
Answer
Renewal of Imaan requires that the person regrets and seeks forgiveness from Allah Ta'ala for his statements of kufr. Then he should recite the Kalimah Shahaadat aloud to himself. This he can do in privacy. Witnesses are not necessary.
