Question
A married man commits adultery in a non-Muslim country. What is his punishment according to the Shariah?
Answer
For the crime of adultery in an Islamic state the punishment is Rajam (stoning to death). This punishment can be meted out only in an Islamic state if the sin was committed in the Islamic state. For adultery committed elsewhere, the sinners should sincerely repent and pledge never again to revert to this abomination. Allah Ta'ala is Most Merciful. He forgives the sincere repenter.
