Question
I am a follower of the Maaliki Math-hab. For Fajr, two Athaans are called. Will it be valid to perform the Fajr Sunnat Salaat after the first Athaan or should we wait until after the second Athaan in which the words: "As-Salaatu Khairum minan naum" are recited?.
Answer
The first Athaan is recited before Subh Saadiq, i.e. before the entry of Fajr time, hence it is not permissible to perform the Sunnats of Fajr after the first Athaan. You have to wait until after the second Athaan. It will also be permissible to perform the Sunnats before the second Athaan as long as Fajr time has commenced.
