Is it permissible to shred very old and tattered copies of the Qur'aan Majeed in a shredder. The paper will be recycled?
Answer
It is not permissible to shred old scriptures of the Qur'aan Majeed even if it will not be recycled. Using for recycling is appallingly sinful. It is defilement of the Qur'aan Majeed. The unusable copies of the Qur'aan Majeed should be wrapped in clean cloth and buried in a place where people do not walk.
