Question
A fire started accidently in my home. The fire spread and part of my neighbour's house was also damaged. He demands compensation from me for the damage. Am I liable for the damage?
Answer
The fire was the consequence of an accident. You are not liable for the damage caused to the goods of your neighbour. The neighbour has no Islamic right of claiming anything from you.
