Question
In our Musjid immediately after the Maghrib Fardh Salaat, kitaab-reading takes place. After the reading is completed, the Sunnats are performed. Is this correct?
Answer
The Shariah orders the performance of two raka'ts Sunnatul Muakkadah immediately after the three Fardh of Maghrib. It is improper to engage in any act, even a holy act, between the Fardh and Sunnat Salaat. The kitaab-reading should be delayed until after the people have completed their Sunnat and Nafl Salaat.
