Regarding the identity of the group mentioned in the Hadith pertaining to Ghazwah Hind, there is no clarity. It is ambiguous.
Although the Muslims had invaded India and conquered a large party of it during the Khilaafat of Hadhrat Muaawiyah (Radhiyallahu anhu) and subsequent Khulafa, the popular view is that it refers to Imaam Mahdi (Alayhis salaam) who will conquer the entire Hind. Allah knows best.
