A Muslim became a murtad. After a year he regretted, repented and renewed his Kalimah.

Question

A Muslim became a murtad. After a year he regretted, repented and renewed his Kalimah. During the time he was a murtad, he had committed many sins. Does his re -entry into Islam cancel out these sins?

Answer

No! Embracing Islam eliminates all the sins of a kaafir, not of a murtad. He has to actively make Taubah for the sins he had committed during his era of irtidaad.
