The Tabligh Jamaat quotes a Hadith to support going out in the path of Allah.

Question

The Tabligh Jamaat quotes a Hadith to support going out in the path of Allah. The rewards mentioned in the Hadith they say apply to tabligh in the path of Allah. Does this Hadith apply to tabligh?

Answer

The narration you have cited refers to RIBAAT which means guarding the borders of Darul Islam against the kuffaar enemy. It is improper to cite this Hadith for the holiday-trips of the Tablighi Jamaat. There is no resemblance between today's tablighi jaunts and RIBAAT. It is misleading and deception to present such Ahaadith for tabligh jamaat trips. While the Tabligh Jamaat's method of tabligh, if maintained within the confines of the Shariah, is meritorious, it is not permissible to mis-manipulate Ahaadith to support even a valid and meritorious act.
