Is it permissible to go on a hunger strike for political pur- poses?

A hunger strike – abstention from food – which leads to death or such weakness which prevents from fulfilment of Ibaadat, is haraam. This is a kuffaar tactic. For achieving valid goals, Muslims are required to adopt Sabr, increase Istighfaar, morally reform themselves and submit fully to the Shariah. That is the Islamic solution, not the ways of the kuffaar.
