Question
"Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said, "One who withdraws his hand from obedience (to the Amir) will find no argument (in his defense) when he stands before Allah on the Day of Resurrection; and one who dies without having sworn allegiance will die the death of one belonging to the Days of Ignorance." [Muslim & Book 1 hadith 665] & (Musnad Ahmed volume 4 page 96) [Sunan an-Nasa'i Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4119] To whom should we give bay'a? I don't want to die in a state of ignorance. Or correct me if I'm wrong please.
Answer
You have to give allegiance (bay't) to the Khalifah of Islam. If there is no such Khalifah, you are not allowed to offer allegiance to the devil. Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) commanded allegiance to the legitimate Khalifah. Today there is no Khalifah, so what is your fear? The warning applies only if there is a Khalifah.
